A total of 17 cases were reported in the US.
. And Canada linked to strawberries sold at Walmart Safeway Trader Joes and other major grocery stores. Although rare people have died from infection with hepatitis A. The outbreak is linked to fresh organic strawberries branded as FreshKampo and HEB purchased between March 5 and April 25 2022.

Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating an outbreak of hepatitis A that is possibly linked to two brands of organic strawberries that were sold at several retailers in the US. Epidemiologic and traceback evidence indicate frozen strawberries imported from Egypt were the likely source of this outbreak. There have been 17 cases of Hepatitis A and 12 hospitalizations linked to the strawberries in the US the FDA said.
